Good day.
Your stock, workshop and customers—all connected.
Selling:
The price the customer pays. Set it once here and the till fills it in for you, so nobody has to remember it or guess at the counter.
When the shelf count falls to this number, Dot flags it for reorder — on the shelf list and in the Money Report.
What this register does not do — four limits, worth reading once
- It records what you took in. When you sell, it keeps the date and the buyer's name — it does not collect the buyer's address, identity number or proof of vehicle registration, which the Act asks a dealer to obtain on a disposal.
- It does not hold your copies of identity documents. Writing down the number is one duty; keeping a copy for five years is a separate one, and that copy lives in your own file.
- It does not keep held goods physically separate from your other stock. The Act asks for that on the shelf, not in the book.
- The spreadsheet file you download (.csv) is plain text, not sealed — it is meant to be opened in a spreadsheet or handed to an officer. Treat the file the way you would treat the printed page.

This app keeps everything on this tablet only — stock, customers, sales, repairs, and notes. Back up often, especially before clearing the browser or moving to a new tablet.
The labour rate fills itself in on every new repair job. You can still change it on any job.
The document reader is a vision model (PaddleOCR-VL) that runs on the computer where it is started. It reads the photograph on that machine and nothing is sent anywhere. Dot Book can only use it from a browser on that same computer: a tablet on the counter cannot reach a reader running on the PC unless the PC is set up to share it, and this version of the page only allows http://127.0.0.1:1234 or http://127.0.0.1:8081. When the reader is off or not running, nothing changes — the form works as it always has.
What it does: reads the photo of the seller's ID and fills in the empty seller fields as suggestions. It never saves anything and never fills in how the identity was verified — you do that, by ticking that you checked the details against the original document. The law (Second-Hand Goods Act s.21(4)) requires the original in your hand; a photo does not count.
End of day
One tap when you close up. It saves a full backup of everything and the day’s money summary to this device’s Downloads folder.
This is the same sealed backup as Save a backup file in the Backups card at the top of this page — it is here as well because the setup guide names it. The one difference: this button always saves a file to this device, even when automatic folder backups are on. Restore From Backup below is likewise the same as the card’s Restore from a backup.
