Pricing · anywhere in South Africa
R750 a month. That is the price.
Not a starting price, not a price per user, and not a price that goes up when you have a good month. One number, everything included, and you can stop whenever you like.
What the R750 actually includes
All of it. There is no higher tier holding the useful features hostage — the shop paying R750 gets exactly what the biggest customer gets.
- Every feature, with nothing held back
- Your own build at your own web address
- Your business name, your logo and your brand colour on it — we set your colour and icon up for you when we install
- Your stock and customers loaded for you before your link goes out — send us the list
- Works with the internet off
- Staff logins, roles and rights
- Every update, for as long as you subscribe
- WhatsApp and email support
- A written setup guide, whoever is doing the setting up
What "your branding" actually means, so there are no surprises. When we install, we put your business name through the whole app, your logo on the header and as the icon on the tablet, and one brand colour of your choosing on the buttons and headings — plus the colour the tablet shows around the app. It is set up by us, not a switch in the app. The app keeps its dark background, because a counter screen has to be readable in a workshop at night. If you want the whole thing recoloured, that is a custom job and we will quote it.
Your records live on your own device, not on a server of ours. We never see your customers, your stock or your takings, because we do not hold them.
Setting it up
Almost everyone sets it up themselves, over a call with us, in about an hour. That costs nothing. You get your own link the same working day and we walk through it together.
We come and set it up
R4,500once-off, plus the same R750 per month
Gqeberha and Nelson Mandela Bay
We come to your counter, load your stock beside you, set up your staff PINs and roles with you, and do your first cash-up together before we leave. Most shops never need this. We would rather show you over a call and leave the R4,500 in your business — but if you want someone there, it is there.
What you are not paying
Most small-shop point-of-sale software in South Africa is priced by the month, and the bigger international names cost more again. Dot Book's monthly is ordinary at R750 — what is different is everything that usually sits underneath it.
| Usually charged | By us |
|---|---|
| Setup or activation fee, once-off | Nothing |
| A fee per till, per lane | Nothing |
| A fee per staff member who logs in | Nothing |
| A percentage of every card sale | Nothing — we never touch your payments |
| More per month to unlock the useful features | Nothing — there is one tier and it has everything |
| A contract, with a notice period | Nothing — stop any time |
| Your records held on their server | They stay on your device. We cannot read them. |
The difference is what happens as you grow. A percentage is a cost that rises every good month, forever. R750 is R750 whether you take R20,000 or R200,000 — and because Dot never touches your payments, you keep whatever card machine you already have and whatever rate you already negotiated.
The awkward questions
Is there a contract?
No. It is month to month and you can stop whenever you like. If you pay for the year and change your mind, tell us and we will refund the months you have not used.
What happens to my records if I leave?
They are already yours — they live on your device, not our server. Everything exports to a spreadsheet whenever you want, and we would send you a copy of the lot on the way out. We would rather you left with your data than felt trapped by it.
Does the price go up?
Not without telling you well beforehand, in writing, and never in your first year. If we ever raise it, anyone already paying keeps their rate for at least twelve months.
Do I need to buy a tablet or a till?
Usually not. It runs in an ordinary browser on a tablet, a laptop or a desktop you already own, and installs to the home screen like an app. A tablet at the counter is the common setup, and a decent one is a few thousand rand if you do need one.
Is there a free trial?
There is a live demo you can use right now without giving us anything, and a free three-minute stock check that tells you whether this is even your problem. We would rather you looked properly before paying than started a trial clock you forget about.
What if I am outside Gqeberha?
Entirely fine — the software is the same anywhere in South Africa and setup happens over a call. On-site setup is Gqeberha and the Bay for now, until there are technicians in other areas.
Ready when you are
Pay by EFT and your own copy is ready the same working day.
Prices in South African Rand. Dot Business Systems is not a registered VAT vendor, so no VAT is added. Card processing, if you take cards, is between you and your own provider — Dot never touches your payments.
